Great Expectations, a new play written and directed by Adrian Preater based on the novel by Charles Dickens. Booking for Spring 2012.

It should be noted that in this filmed performance, the part of Estella was read in by Rosie Thorpe (having had one day's rehearsal!) This was due to the fact that for the last four perfomances of our Autumn tour our lead actress was very ill in hospital (now fully recovered)

Ballad of a bird,

Currently booking for Autumn 2011 and Spring 2012.

What happens when a girl's dreams turn into a nightmare and all her pies are gone? Funny, sad and heart warming; a charmingly witty fairytale for adults! This latest comedy written by Hotbuckle's very own Adrian Preater is a delightful and beautifully written story about a young woodland girl's first venture, alone into the big city, and the impact this has on her and surprisingly, the big city! The narrative sweeps along at a gripping pace and the humour is never far from the surface. This is a play with a difference! Hotbuckle's very physical production of this tale is as mesmerising as it is exciting.

Ballad of a Bird is Hotbuckle’s new comedy. A physical/story theatre production for adults; our tale follows Ruth, who is desperate to see life in the big city. Preyed upon by the evil Lord Conrad, her spirit gives hope to the downtrodden townspeople.

A light hearted reflection on the second World War featuring sketches and songs from the period.

Joshua,  the hilarious pla y by Adrian Preater, is a madcap, absurd voyage through the final hours of a condemned man... and his duck. What is his crime? He has no idea. All he does know is that his ex-wife was in charge of the prosecution at his trial…and his duck has no sympathy. Somewhere nestled between Monty Python, Orton, Ionesco and Kafka, "Joshua" is a comic adventure not to be missed!

Toured Autumn 2009 and 2010

"I was on the edge of my seat one moment and laughing out loud the next"....Joshua is suitable for ages 14 to 140  and explores themes as diverse as the environment and parenthood, the seven deadly sins and crucifixion, in a seriously funny way.

Our story begins on Joshua's last day, when all he wants is a bit of peace and quiet, or a reprieve....and he gets anything but! The Executioner would like a word, and his ex wants a few as well. The cleaner sees a window of opportunity and his defence lawyer won't stop crying. And then of course there's Stenson, architect of the new "State", who can't resist a little tête a tête, and who knows, might even pardon Joshua, if the mood grabs him…

Joshua is a funny, thought provoking and highly entertaining play which keeps audiences spellbound until the very end. Featuring original artwork from acclaimed Surrey artist Julian Farrar (www.favouriteroom.com), Joshua is not only hilarious but also a visually intoxicating experience and not to be missed.

Hotbuckle bring their usual classy expertise to this exciting new play written by Hotbuckle co-director and writer Adrian Preater.
